Munsey Poole collection of papers, 1964.

Consists of a typed copy of Caty Sage, a Virginia Colonial era American Indian. "The Story of Caty Sage" is a compilation of a series of Munsey Poole's 1964 newspaper articles for the Galax Gazette about Katy Sage. It gives various versions of the Katy Sage story and quotes Sage family letters.

Katy Sage was born to James and Lovis Ott Sage of Elk Creek of Grayson County, Virginia. Katy disappeared in 1787. In 1848 her brother Charles met a Caucasian woman living with the Wyandotte Indians at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. She resembled the Sage family and had a birthmark which Katy had.
